The nominations for Chapel Hill Firefighter of the Year were reviewed by a joint committee of the Chapel Hill Firefighter’s Assoc and the CHFD Administration and a selection has been named for the 2007-2008 year.
Fire Equipment Operator Chris Bradley has been selected for his service to other members of the department as a mentor, his volunteer work at the Chapel Hill Museum that resulted in a display of the history of the CHFD and his role in developing a fire safety puppet show for children’s education. FEO Bradley holds the honorary title of 1st Sergeant of the CHFD (a recognition of the senior non-officer) and has served the Town since July of 1987, beginning as a Public Safety Officer. FEO Bradley will be recognized by the Foundation for a Sustainable Community and the Chapel Hill – Carrboro Chamber of Commerce in ceremonies on December 11 at the Europa Center.
The runner-up for this year’s recognition is Captain Tommy Gregory who was recognized for his service to the community as the primary organizer behind firefighters installing automatic fire sprinklers in over 60 Habitat for Humanity homes in the Chapel Hill and Orange County community.
Please join me in congratulating and honoring these outstanding representatives of the Chapel Hill Fire Department
