Visitors to Morehead Planetarium and Science Center on Nov. 22 might think twice about their next Thanksgiving meal. Morehead's Meet a Scientist program will focus on the dining options of the American Indians 12,000 years ago.
Archaeologist Margaret Scarry of the UNC anthropology department will discuss what the Ancient Carolinians ate and how the menu has changed over thousands of years. Using seeds, animal bones and other evidence, she will explore the daily cuisine of these ancient people.
Sessions with Dr. Scarry begin at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Nov. 22 event.
Morehead's Meet a Scientist program gives children and their families an opportunity to explore a science topic with a new expert every month. The program is free and open to the public.
