Chapel Hill Family Buries Loved One

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -

Rodney Torain, Jr. was was killed in a hit and run accident last Sunday. He was the second Chapel Hill High School football player to die this year.

On Saturday, Torain's friends and family gathered for his funeral at Chapel Hill Bible Church in Chapel Hill.

"He was the type of person who could always put a smile on someone's face, somebody down, they go to Rodney, tell him about whatever they bothering them, he the type of person kept everyone up on their feet, smiling," said Torain's Cousin, Melvin Council.

To get through this difficult time, friends and family are relying on prayer, their faith and each other.

"Everybody just holding on to each other, giving each other good advice," said Council.

Just a few months ago, many of these same people were together in this room to say goodbye to another Chapel Hill High School football player.

Atlas Fraley died suddenly after football practice in August. Torain and Fraley were best friends.

"To me he'll always be alive in my heart, along with Atlas I mean they're just never going to be forgotten," said their friend, Nicole Edwards.

Family and friends say the two are together again. However, that doesn't make saying goodbye any easier, for friends, family or classmates.

"We all support each other, and that's the best thing we can do is be there for each other," said Edwards.

"We're holding up ok, we're just still being strong, doing our work, we get through it," said Council.
