His talk will be about the early years of journalism education at UNC. A viewing of the Wilson Library exhibit "Consecrated to the Common Good: 100 Years of Journalism Education at UNC-Chapel Hill" will begin at 5 p.m.Bowers is the author of "Making News: One Hundred Years of Journalism & Mass Communication at Carolina," newly issued by UNC Press. He was associate dean and senior associate dean of the school for 24 years and interim dean in 2005-2006.
