The Chapel Hill Town Council has approved a special use permit to allow a three-story 80,745 square foot building on eight acres at Carolina North, which is the site of UNC-Chapel Hill's proposed satellite campus west of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
The center will help businesses affiliated with UNC work on research and development projects.
A development agreement has not yet been approved by the town for the entire campus.
A public information session will be held in the Chapel Hill town council chambers at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The meeting will cover the review process for the university's proposal to develop an academic, mixed-use campus.
