David Price is one of 75 House members to vote against HR 3221, Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2009, On Motion to Recommit with Instructions, Defund ACORN Act. The Bill overwhelmingly passed with bi-partisan support 345-75 with 11 not voting, and 2 indicating present.
If Frank Roche were in Congress, he would have voted for the Defund ACORN Act.
In the face of repeated accusations of voter fraud over many election cycles, with more than one related conviction, and multiple videos of ACORN employees facilitating illegal activity related to evading taxes and prostitution, Mr. Roche says, "it should have been a unanimous vote to end all Federal funds flowing to ACORN nationwide. David Price, one of the more left leaning House members, made a political calculation, rather than one focused on fiscal responsibility, and the importance of condemning the amoral behavior demonstrated in more than one ACORN office. Once again David Price is on the wrong side. With each vote he makes himself a bigger part of the problem."
To the extent ACORN can help the poor with housing and interacting with government for services, and they can do so through largely private funding, we wish them success. However, Frank says, "ACORN as it is run today, should be shut off from taxpayer money at the federal, state, and local level."
