RubberBanditz, a Durham-based fitness company, has created a portable, elastic strength training gym that makes it possible to exercise anywhere, anytime. Conceived by inventor, Ari Zandman-Zeman in the rural fields of Guatemala, RubberBanditz just unveiled their ‘mobile gyms’.
The circular design of the bands allow for full-body exercise use. The routines expand on many weight-training excises to engage the body’s core muscles while the non-weight bearing qualities ease stress on knees and backs.
Employing a triple bottom line approach, Rubberbanditz, will donate all returned materials to Scrap Exchange, a local non-profit, and allocate a portion of the proceeds to build exercise band gyms in underprivileged communities.
After a Division 1 collegiate basketball career, Ari enlisted in the Peace Corps. Restless energy and the necessity of finding a dynamic strength-training program without a gym around for miles were the driving forces that eventually led to RubberBanditz.
Ari will be giving a product demonstration at the University Mall in Chapel Hill on Sunday, November 29th.
