CARRBORO, N.C. -

The American Red Cross, Anna Maria's and OWASA will co-sponsor a blood drive on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the OWASA Administration Building, 400 Jones Ferry Road, Carrboro.

Caroline Z. Allison, Donor Recruitment Representative with the American Red Cross, Carolinas Blood Services Region, said "While there is a constant need for all blood types, donors with types O and B are asked to take an hour to donate right away. The summer months always impact the blood supply, and your donation is needed. In giving blood, we are really giving life to other people at a critical time-there is no substitute."

Anna Maria's and OWASA will provide food for the blood drive. Blood donors will also be eligible for an opportunity to win a cruise for two.

To participate in a blood drive, donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 with parental consent, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and have positive identification.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, please contact Ms. Lisa Wilson at OWASA at 537-4237 or lwilson@owasa.org. Walk-ins are welcome after 12:00. Information is also available from the American Red Cross at 1-800-GIVE LIFE.
