A former Chapel Hill middle school teacher who had hundreds of images of child pornography on his computer was sentenced to therapy, probation and weekends in jail after confessing his sex addiction.
Jason Garant Perkins of Morrisville said in court Tuesday he's joined Sex Addicts Anonymous and a 12-step recovery program. He pleaded guilty to 10 counts of second-degree exploitation of a minor.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported the 39-year-old taught social studies at Woods Charter School until resigning just before his arrest in April.
Prosecutors said nearly 200 images of child erotica and pornography was found on his home computer.
Perkins' sentence was suspended to 60 months supervised probation and 20 days in jail on weekends.
