UNC Lineberger to host Lung Cancer Awareness Symposium on Nov. 17
The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center invites an open audience to participate in a Lung Cancer Awareness Symposium on Nov. 17 in the Lineberger Building on West Drive on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. The event will be hosted by the UNC Lineberger Clinical Protocol Office, the National Black Leadership Initiative for Cancer (NBLIC) and the N.C. Lung Cancer Partnership.
UNC lung cancer specialists Mark Socinski, M.D., professor of medicine, and Benjamin Haithcock, M.D., clinical assistant professor of surgery, will be the featured speakers of the event at 4 p.m. in the Pagano Conference Room. Dr. Haithcock will discuss barriers to care faced by minorities. Additional panelists will include a nurse coordinator, a clinical trial participant and an NBLIC representative.
Prior to the 4 p.m. panel, attendees may visit lung cancer awareness exhibits in the Lineberger atrium from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
