The proposed construction of research facility Carolina North on UNC's campus could have a big economic impact on Orange County.
A breakdown of the financial impact shows that Chapel Hill would have to spend $3 million more a year to provide additional town services needed to handle the large amount of people who would potentially move to the town.
The money will be made up through tax revenue.
Carolina North could potentially created nearly 3,600 jobs and possibly add another 600 students to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro city schools.
But with the property and school taxes, the county stands to gain up to $44 million a year.
