North Carolina customers of Progress Energy would get an average 10-cent rate reduction under a rate plan proposed by the utility.
Progress said Thursday it wanted to lower the fuel cost in rates because of use of green, renewable energy and better energy efficiency.
Under the proposal filed with state regulators, the total bill for a household using 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) a month would drop from $106.78 to $106.68.
The new rate would become effective Dec. 1 if approved.
