Police are looking for a suspect wanted in connection with a July 1 attempted home robbery.
On July 1, Dennis Wooten reported that someone tried to rob him outside his apartment at 122 Shady Lawn Court. The suspect shot at Wooten as he fled inside his apartment and shut the door. Wooten was not injured in the shooting.
Police have arrested Jasmine Lashay Lassiter, 16, and Tasheona Dane Sanders, 16, and charged both with "Conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon."
Investigators have drawn warrants charging Gilbert Travis Lorfils, 26, with the following:
Two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling
Conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon
Attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon
Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
In responding to the incident, Officer David Taylor spotted a suspicious vehicle and attempted to stop it. A suspect, later identified as Lorfils, fled the vehicle and escaped. The other occupants of the vehicle also fled the scene with the vehicle and escaped. Police recovered the weapon used in the attempted robbery in the area that Lorfils fled.
Subsequent investigation by Garner Detectives determined the identity of those involved and resulted in the arrest of Lassiter and Sanders. Attempts to locate Lorfils and take him into custody have been unsuccessful.
Anyone with information about Lorfils' whereabouts or any additional information on this incident is asked to call the Garner Police at 919-772-8810.
