FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. -

Briana Johnson couldn't wait. And neither could her unborn daughter.

Johnson said her boyfriend was out of town working, so she called her friend, then her doctor.

"[The doctor] told me get up now and come on in, and when I stood up my water broke," Johnson said.

She said she knew she couldn't wait and called her dad.

"I just said I needed him now, to get here now and I hung up and I immediately called 911," Johnson said.

And that's when Johnson, from the foot of her bed, called for her 6-year-old daughter Diyana, the only one who could help her as she began delivering the baby.

"She told me to get a blanket and she told me to open the door," Diyana said.

Diyana opened the front door so emergency crews wouldn't have to waste time breaking in when they arrived at the Fuquay-Varina home.

The baby arrived within four minutes of her calling 911. By the time her father, Torris Jones, got to the house, emergency crews were there, and so was the baby.

Madisyn Johnson was four weeks early, weighing 5 pounds 5 ounces.

"A blessing from God," Jones said.

Now Jones has two granddaughters and is astonished by the poise of one of them.

"I'm amazed I'm really proud of [Diyana]."

Johnson said she'll answer any questions Diyana might have about how babies are born.

"She [Diyana] was like, "What did it feel like?" And I was like, ‘It was unexplainable' and she said, ‘ok' and left it at that," Johnson said.

Johnson didn't hesitate calling her daughter a hero.

"I wouldn't have been able to do it without her; I don't know how things would have happened."

Johnson and Madisyn are resting at WakeMed Cary. Six years ago Diyana came into the world in a rush, too, and was born in the lobby bathroom.

Ronnie, you really are funny! I'm having a lot of fun with you! Thanks for the entertainment, you dumb goose.

  • By Marilyn M. Williams on 09/20 06:48 PM

Ronnie, Kiss what I twist and I don't mean my wrist. We are here to stay so you can rot in hell. Burn baby burn. What part of we do not care what you think that you did not understand? Did you go/finish school, or did the Welfare money run out? Take your comments and thoughts to your grave. How can you tell a REDNECK? Listen to Ronnie! For Halloween, you should disguise yourself as a decent American citizen. We are all laughing at your stupidity. Thanks for the entertainment!!!

The Baptist coming out of all you now! You all sound like true church going people. At least I know who my parents are. Can any of you say that? You all are nothing but a bunch of Freeloading animals that think getting free schooling, free housing, food, are a way of life and that is how you all bring up your illegitimate children. Thats why we have affirmative action for you females and Negro's.. Just can't do it on your own:) So, keep on needing the help from the WHITE man. Will still build your Habitat homes, collect and deliver food to your mothers, because her daughters and sons are worthless. I will be praying for you all to earn your own way in this country of ours..

Ronnie, you ignorant fool. If you were referring to me as "you people" being "so religious" and going to church to "socialize and congregate" you got me all wrong. But, I think I like that, because you seem to get a lot of things wrong. Ms. Williams, you sound like a wonderful person, and remember it's always a gift when the Ronnies of the world expose themselves...saves everyone else the trouble.

It is Me Again Ronnie, Yes, we do go to Church and yes, we have a good time and know how to Praise God. I see why “You people” (you seem to like this term) do not know anything about Praising God, as it would be a waste time. There will be no separation in Heaven and some of “You People” seem to think there are two Heavens. Your Mother should have kept her legs closed, and then there would be one less ignorant person in this world. It would be interesting to see you on any street corner with some of “My people”; I guarantee you would shut your mouth then. I once thought “You people” were smarter, you sure have proven that wrong. Suggestion: Check the airlines, catch a flight out of this country, and take your tax dollars with you; “My People” will never miss you. Then you will no longer have to pay for WHITE illegitimate children and can stop being sick and tired, or at least stop being tired because you will always be sick. Try going to Iraq as my husband did and you will experience what sick and tired is really like. Are you willing as a WHITE American to show some real patriotism? As a Black American Taxpayer, this is from me, and “My People”! If you were not so ignorant, I would be upset with you but actually, I feel sorry for you. The only one that cares how you feel about “My People” is you, as we feel you are worthless. There you have it!!!!!

this just in from the Maury show "Ronnie" you are the father and a deadbeat fess up now sucka........lmao!!!!!!!!!

You people are so religious aren't you? You all go to church to socialize and congregate. It is a great story that her daughter was there for her. But in same token as a white American tax payer I am sick and tired of paying for illegitimate children in this country. You women need to close your legs and quit having children out of marriage.

To Ronnie: As to your first question, "Where was the father?" Answer...The Father, Lord God Almighty, is everywhere, and he was watching over Ms. Johnson's family when they needed him. Your next question, "or does she even know who he is?" Well, do you know who he is? Find him, and he'll be there for you too. Your "welfare" statement negates your entire commentary. Have a nice day, and try to find some peace.

  • By Marilyn M. Williams on 09/17 08:34 PM

Especially for Ronnie: Excuse me, what does a Welfare Mother sound like. For your information, (not that it is any of your business) the Mother is a Nurse and has been for several years. Have you checked the starting pay for Nurse's lately? You should as she probably makes more money than you do. Remember, “It is better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt”! FYI - We come from a Family of Movers and Shakers so comments like yours do not Move or Shake us. Another tidbit, if you live in Apex you are most likely on land sold by our family. Here is a suggestion, do or say something interesting in Life and just maybe there will be a human-interest story on you. If so, I hope that others respond in a positive manner. Have a Blessed Life!

I can't believe after reading this wonderful story someone would submit such a mean and spiteful comment. Why doesn't Ronnie try to give birth to a baby with no help and no pain medicine. Congratulations to the family!

  • By Marilyn M. Williams on 09/17 08:07 PM

What a Blessed event. The birth of a child is a heart wrenching and emotional experience. Addressing the negative comments - The more I deal & listen to people, the more I like flies, & I CANNOT stand a fly. This story is not about marriage, position/status in life, or health insurance. It is a human-interest story about a women giving birth at home with the assistance of her 6 year old. Seems some of you missed "READING WITH UNDERSTANDING" 101, which explains why you missed the point. Help me understand how you got, out of this story, all the personal information (which is none of your business) you questioned that was NOT mentioned. Could the Father have been out of town working, on his way there, or any numerous reasons? Re-read the story (with understanding) & maybe you will realize the story is sharing not only the joy of birth, but that a young Mother conquered this task at home, on the floor, with the help of her 6 year old. CONGRATS TO BRIANA & DIYANA & A GRAND WELCOME TO MADISYN!
