Raleigh- When creator Mark Tangherlini opened the ghoulish gates of SILENT FOREST for the first time back in October 2005, it was a 15-year dream come true. But this isn't your every day ghost and goblins kind of hair-raising haunt. This big kid at heart, with an even bigger imagination, doesn't leave any "tombstone" unturned. Now, entering their fifth season, SILENT FOREST is growing, and that means it is time to mark new terrorizing territory. "All of the haunts were doing the same thing and I wanted to make mine different", says Tangherlini, who admits he's a huge Disney fan and loves the idea of a Halloween haunting park available closer to home.
After years at the Alltel Pavilion Amphitheater grounds, Tangherlini decided he needs more space to truly make SILENT FOREST the Haunted Theme Park he intended. And that means planting the park on 95 acres of property in Creedmoor, NC in Granville County. "My goal is to create an exciting and scary park that does not compare with the traditional and ordinary Halloween parks", says Tangherlini, who continues, "this is a small part of a big picture that I want to do for entertainment in the Triangle area. It is here that SILENT FOREST can bloom to become the biggest and best haunted theme park in the Southeast. With over 35 acres being used, SILENT FOREST will be a fright night of terrifying trails, ancient ruins, graveyards, a mineshaft and a western town.
For Tangherlini, SILENT FOREST is not all about the scare. It's also about giving back. For any person who attends and mentions their school, SILENT FOREST will give $2 off the full ticket price to that school. "I'm doing it for the love of helping kids", says Tangherlini.
SILENT FOREST haunts the deep, dark woods of Creedmoor between Highways 85/15 and Highway 50 just one mile north of Falls Lake with the entrance on Northside Road. The park will be open to the public Friday, October 2nd- Saturday, October 31st every Friday and Saturday night from 7:30PM-Midnight. Beginning October 22nd, the park will open during weeknights from 7PM-11PM. Tickets to SILENT FOREST are $17, but discounts are also available online and for groups of 20 or more. Tickets are $12 for active duty law enforcement/fire department members (with valid ID) on any night and $14 for all college students (with valid ID).
