Join the Neuse Riverkeeper Foundation for a cleanup Saturday, October 10, 8am to 1pm (Rain or Shine). In April, nearly 300 volunteers collected 13,920 lbs of trash from the banks of the Neuse River. This time we're not only cleaning the banks, but getting out on the water and separating recyclable materials for diversion from our landfills!

Fall Clean-up Sites

* Hwy 42 in Clayton

* Smithfield Town Commons

Volunteers will be cleaning up trash along the banks of the river, on the islands, and around access areas like bridges. There is an on site Coordinator to assist volunteers at each clean-up station. Gloves and trash bags are provided, as is water from cleanup sponsor Aquarius Spring!

PADDLERS should arrive at Falls Dam, Milburnie, or Smithfield Town Commons around 8 AM to get an early start on the river. VOLUNTEERS on foot can select any of the cleanup locations and arrive between 9 and 10 am. (Paddlers will be on the river for 3-5 hours depending on the section of river. Volunteers working on land usually work for 2-3 hours.)

Pre-registration is not required for families or small groups. If you want to make a committment today, you can RSVP on the Neuse Riverkeepr Foundation's Facebook Page Volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. (You may bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian and give to the site coordinator.)
