This past spring the University of North Carolina was celebrating a national championship in basketball.

Now it's time for Coach Roy Williams to build a new team.

Friday night, the Dean Dome was chock full of Tar Heel blue for the first time in the 2009 season as the men's and women's teams got their formal introductions at "Late Night With Roy."

Of course there was still a healthy dose of highlights from 2008.

From the fans' point of view, though, the heels haven't skipped a beat.

"I'm hoping we can put another one of those banners up in the stands this next year," said Patrick Wright. "I think it's going to be a great season, I'm ready for a national championship. Let's do it Heels! Let's go baby."

But first, the heels had to get through some tradition

"I'm excited to see the boys' basketball team," said Jasmine Cogdell. "And of course the crazy dance moves."

There were Tar Heel Elvii, Tar Heel Fresh Princes and Tar Heel Tom Cruises.

Even Coach Williams got in the act.

All dancing aside, though, the people came out to see some scrimmaging.

"It's going to be a lot different from last year," said Val Hansen. "But I'm sure they'll be just as good."

"They got a lot to prove, and they know they got a lot to prove," said Cogdell.

Even without the likes of Tyler Hansbrough and Ty Lawson this season, there's a lot of optimism in Chapel Hill.

"Roy Williams. Enough said," said one fan. "That's all you need."

Now everyone's just waiting to see them tip off against someone wearing a different school's colors.
