Attorneys in the Eve Carson case have requested that Demario Atwater not be given the death penalty if convicted.
Atwater's defense submitted more than 100 pages to the court asking that the death penalty not be used in his federal case.
Prosecutors allege Atwater and another man, Laurence Lovette, kidnapped Carson from her home and shot her to death the morning of March 5, 2008.
Atwater has been charged with murder. His attorneys argue the death penalty is not warranted and was only applied because of media attention.
Lovette will be tried separately in the case.

I'm against the death penalty. But the thing that booths me even more is the perversion of our laws by lawyers. A competent defense is one thing but this is ridiculous. This is one of the many reason why these fools, these predators don't respect us or our laws. We need to take swift action against this coward and his friend and lock them up forever, with no chance for release, ever! This is the only way we finally take back our respect from these predators! This plea is more than required, it's grandstanding by the attorney! It's sickening.... His or her parents should be proud..... Pig!

Explain to me why Eve didn't have an option, BECAUSE of his actions, but he should have an option?

Don't despise the attorney. If the defense did anything less, the conviction would be overturned due to incompetent representation. We need an airtight court case so that there's no overuling later due to any prosecurial or defense lapses.

The bad part is that Lovette will not face the death penalty and will likely one day walk out a free 60 year old.

I agree with Bev on one count. Atwater should most definitely be put to death if convicted. He killed in cold blood, simple as that. However, I think faulting the attorney for fighting for his clients life is shortsighted. His job is to represent the interests of his client, I'd be disappointed if he didn't fight for his client's life. Everyone deserves a fair trial and fair representation. That said, if/when he's convicted, put him to death, 'nuff said.

I can't think of a more suitable person for the death penalty than these two low lifes. How dare his attorney say such an asinine thing. So people will do anything for money.
