About two dozen kids are spending the week at a police academy put on by the Holly Springs Police Department.
Wednesday, officers brought the kids to the State Police headquarters and the courthouse and taught them self-defense tactics.
Many of the kids in camp would like to be officers some day.
Officers at the academy usually only see these kids while they are working at the high school.
"It's very rewarding. We deal with them all year at school, but not always in a positive atmosphere and bringing them in and showing them what we do kind of gives them more knowledge of who we are and actually gets us to relate to them a little bit better," said Lt. Anthony Revels with the Holly Springs Police Dept
This is the first year for the week-long camp. Officers said they've had so many people interested that they are already planning two camps for next year.
